Concert of 12 February 1950
This concert brought back Furtwängler playing the piano. From there, he conducted the 5th Brandenburg Concerto, with one of the Konzertmeister, Walter Barylli, and the first flute player, Hans Reznicek.
Franz Schütz (1892–1962), who performs Fantasia and Fugue BWV 542 as the opening piece, was a renowned organist and teacher in Vienna. He was also director of the Musikakademie and president of the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde. He performed in numerous concerts conducted by Furtwängler.
